Same gyudon, different chain

The regular beef bowl at four chains, by official calories. The lightest, Yoshinoya, and the heaviest, Sukiya, are 62 kcal apart. The dotted line is a one-meal guide (about 700 kcal).

The one-meal guide depends on sex and age. Chain pages let you switch between the guides for men and women.

Matsuya does not publish protein, fat or carbohydrates, so its bar has no colors. We never fill unpublished numbers with estimates — that is how tabecal works.

02 / 03 · SIZE

How much a bigger size adds

Sukiya’s gyudon by size, against the regular. The mini is 231 kcal less; the extra large is 405 kcal more.

Switching chains moves things by 62 kcal; switching sizes moves them by 636 kcal. How much you order matters more than where.

03 / 03 · SHAPE

Read it at a glance from the shape

The pentagon shows calories, protein, fat, carbs and salt against half a day’s reference. The further it bulges out, the more there is.

Overlay the two and Sukiya’s regular bulges out on calories and carbs, while fat and salt are almost the same as Yoshinoya’s (fat 23.4 g vs 23.6 g, salt 2.4 g vs 2.5 g). The difference is the amount of rice.

The outer edge of the pentagon is half of 2,200 kcal, 81 g protein, 62 g fat, 316 g carbs and 7.5 g salt a day.

What tabecal does

Official figures only

Everything here is what each chain publishes itself. Not a single estimate is mixed in.

Read it by color and shape

Calories, fat and salt are color-coded against a day’s reference, and a pentagon shows where each item leans.

Checked daily, dated

Menus are re-checked every day as they change, and each page shows its “last verified” date.

News

The critical PHP vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 / 109619)

tabecal is protected against the PHP vulnerabilities announced on October 21, 2026. The site’s pages are static and do not run PHP, so they are not affected. For the PHP used by our business data API (/api/), our hosting company (Shin Rental Server) applied the security patch on October 22, 2026 (their notice, in Japanese). There is nothing you need to do.

A new look for the site
  • Text sizes and spacing reworked so pages read well on phones
  • Menu search now takes several words at once, such as “Sukiya gyudon” — and English dish names
  • The one-meal guide can be switched between men and women
  • Calories in lists and tables now come with bars, so you can compare at a glance

As before, we list only the nutrition each chain publishes officially, and page URLs have not changed. If anything is hard to read, please tell us via Contact.

From the operator

Okazaemon

It started during a stretch of eating out almost every day: I wanted to know what the day had actually added up to, from numbers I could trust. Every site showed different figures, and there was no telling which were official and which were estimates. So tabecal keeps a single source — only what each chain publishes itself — re-checked every day.
