Seven cafe chains, compared by the numbers

Meal averages range from 275 to 591 kcal — “cafe food is light” does not survive contact with the data.

“Cafe food is light” — only half true

Meal averages across seven cafe chains: Starbucks 275 kcal, Tully’s 326, Ueshima 353, Doutor 406, Komeda 466, Musashinomori Coffee 591 — a better-than-twofold spread. Every Starbucks food item stays under 500 kcal, while Musashinomori serves a 1,212 kcal burger. Which cafe matters more than “cafe”.

The drink completes the meal

A Starbucks latte starts at 96 kcal (smallest hot size, 9.2 g protein) and moves with milk and size choices — Starbucks publishes figures for each combination, up to 34 per item on our pages. Starbucks, Doutor and Tully’s also disclose caffeine, which almost no other restaurant genre does.

Disclosure gaps

Komeda and Ueshima publish essentially calories only. Komeda’s portions famously run large — worth checking numbers like the plant-based Shironoir at 406 kcal before ordering. Blank fields on our pages mean “not disclosed”, never estimates.

Figures in this article are aggregated from the 30,399 items across 191 chains we publish (as of 2026-09-18). Reference values follow Japan’s Dietary Reference Intakes (2020).
